Calculating Similarities: Interpreting the Scores
When the score is positive, two genes behave similarly. When one is induced, so is the other. The larger the number, the more similar they are. The maximum is 1, when they behave identically. Gene A obviously behaves exactly like Gene A.
When the similarity score is 0, two genes behave in an unrelated manner.
When the similarity score is negative, two genes behave in opposite ways. When one is induced, the other is suppressed.
Gene A | Gene B | Gene C | Gene D | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Gene A | 1 | 0.450 | −0.633 | 0.597 |
Gene B | 0.450 | 1 | 0.107 | 0.729 |
Gene C | −0.633 | −0.107 | 1 | −0.454 |
Gene D | 0.597 | 0.729 | 0.454 | 1 |
