Microarray Experiment Overview: Fluorescent Markers

The cDNA is then labeled with fluorescent markers: tumor cell cDNA with red and normal cell cDNA with green.

Both samples are mixed together and allowed to hybridize to the complementary sequences of DNA on the microarray.

A laser scanner measures the fluorescence of each spot separately for red and green. For analysis, the results of one color are then superimposed over those of the other.
