Vector-Borne Disease

Vector-borne diseases require an intermediary—a vector—to spread among people. Typical vectors are arthropods, like ticks, fleas, flies, spiders, or mosquitoes.

Malaria and dengue fever are vector-borne diseases that affect millions of people worldwide.
