Test Your Knowledge: Module 2

Question 3 of 3

In a follow-up study, you collected dung samples and performed DNA metabarcoding on plains zebra, a grazing zebra species that also lives in Mpala. The Sorenson’s index comparing Grevy’s zebra and plains zebra was 0.57. What does this result tell you about the two species?

Species with very similar diets living in the same habitat can partition their niches in some other ways. For example, Grevy’s zebra tend to live in drier, more arid areas than plains zebra, so they partition niches by space.
