In DNA metabarcoding, a researcher loads tagged DNA fragments from many different dung samples onto a sequencing instrument. The instrument determines the fragments’ sequences and a computer matches the sequences to the appropriate sample and plant species. You will perform this matching step for two DNA fragments.

Two researchers are seated at a desk discussing DNA metabarcoding data that appears on a computer screen.
Drs. Robert Pringle and Tyler Kartzinel discuss their DNA metabarcoding data.
