Virochip Design: Part 5

If the sample contains DNA from virus A or virus B, it will hybridize to complementary DNA on different spots on the chip. Those spots will fluoresce green when activated by the laser.

Genome maps of Virus A and Virus B from Family alpha with conserved regions alpha 1 and alpha 2 and variable regions A-1, A-2, B-1, and B-2 marked.

What do you think is in the sample if your chip result shows a pattern like this?

An open tube marked Sample 1 with an arrow that points to a 6-spot Virochip with bright green spots marked alpha 1, alpha 2, A-1, and A-2, and khaki spots labeled B-1 and B-2.
