During head regeneration in planaria, a group of genes are activated, including the planaria’s version of the Fgf signaling pathway and possibly the Wnt pathway.

Silencing the Fgf pathway results in abnormal formation of brain tissue in inappropriate body locations, indicating the importance of the pathway for proper morphogenesis.
