Leech Dissection: Step 9

To access the ganglion's ventral side, the leech is flipped over. A small hole is cut into the ventral body wall to reveal the ganglion. Care is taken not to damage the nerve cord or the nerves that come out of the ganglion.

A second close-up of the leech ganglion, after a hole is cut beneath the ganglion. The red wax at the bottom of the dissection dish is visible through this hole. The ganglion, nerve cord, and two nearby nerves are all labeled.
