Experimental Therapies
The potential of stem cell therapy is raising the most hope in cases in which stem cells might be used to replace damaged or destroyed cells that are not naturally regenerated.
For example, a human heart damaged by a heart attack does not naturally heal. Many neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s, might be cured if stem cells could replace cells that have died.
Some experimental therapies are in human clinical trials, and others are still being studied using animal subjects. Let’s take a look at a few of these examples.
