Finding the Consensus Sequence
Published genome sequences of closely related viruses from the same family are used to generate a consensus sequence.
A consensus sequence is a way of showing the most common nucleotide at each position from multiple sequences that are similar enough to be aligned and compared.
- Sequence 1: AATCGG
- Sequence 2: ACACGG
- Sequence 3: ACTCGG
- Sequence 4: ACTCGC
- Consensus: ACTCGG
