Reads from a Fragmented Text
Here are eight short “sequence reads.” Punctuation and spaces have been deleted from the original text.
- V,E,D,I,N,L,I,B,E,R
- S,A,G,O,O,U,R,F,A,T,H
- E,C,R,E,A,T,E,D,E,A
- R,O,P,O,S,I,T,I,O,N,T,H
- E,N,Y,E,A,R,S,A,G,O,O
- T,H,O,N,T,H,I,S,C,O,N
- G,H,T,F,O,R,T,H,O
- I,B,E,R,T,Y,A,N,D,D,E
Very little information about the original text can be gained from individual reads.
Because the genetic alphabet has only four letters (A, C, G, T), even less information is apparent from single reads of an actual genome sequence.
