New Early Career Physician-Scientists

Eleven promising physician-scientists whose research interests range from obesity to childhood cancer have been awarded a total of $4 million. Representing seven institutions, the awardees combine medical expertise with an early commitment to basic research.

Individual awards of $375,000 over five years will help the physician-scientists launch and develop innovative research programs at a critical stage in their careers. The awards are given to alumni of two HHMI programs for medical students as part of a long-term push by HHMI to boost the number of researchers able to translate basic science into patient care.
