A prominent scientist and an experienced businessman have joined the HHMI Board of Trustees.

Professor Alison Richard, vice-chancellor of the University of Cambridge, was elected as a trustee in September 2008. Trained as an anthropologist, Richard spent 30 years at Yale University before going to Cambridge, where she is the first woman to serve as the chief academic officer and administrator of the university.

Clayton S. Rose, a senior lecturer at the Harvard Business School and 20-year veteran of J.P. Morgan and Co., was elected as a trustee in March 2009. Rose chairs the board of managers of Highbridge Capital Management, a hedge fund, and serves as a trustee of the National Opinion Research Center, a social science research organization.
