Dennis M. McKearin, an experienced researcher and administrator, joined HHMI’s Science Department on September 1, 2009, as a scientific officer. McKearin came from the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical Center, where he was a professor of molecular biology and associate dean. His research focused on stem cell biology in the fruit fly, Drosophila. In addition, McKearin oversaw the Medical Scientist Training Program and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the UT Southwestern Medical School.
