Eliminating North, East, or South

Your task is to eliminate the population that does not have the same alleles as the ivory sample. The gel shows the alleles for four different markers in the ivory sample (lane 1), and a single population in the north (lane 2), east (lane 3), and south (lane 4) of Africa.

Click on each marker individually to see which alleles are present in the ivory samples and in each population. You can compare the alleles of the ivory sample to those in the three populations.

Based on these results which population would you eliminate as a possible source of the ivory—in other words, which population is not a likely source?

Try again. You can exclude the population that does not have the alleles present in the ivory sample.

Correct. The population from the north of Africa does not have some of the alleles that are in the ivory sample.
