A chart for a DNA Profile is used to illustrate the progression of DNA through the agarose gel used during electrophoresis.

This example shows a pattern of white bands representing the movement of DNA fragments for two elephants as compared to base pairs of the DNA ladder.

The left side of the chart is labeled as base pairs with numbers ranging from 255 to 230 from top to the bottom in increments of 5.

Along the top of the chart are three columns representing the lanes for the electrophoresis runs.

The first column is labeled DNA Ladder and shows white bands at every interval representing the reference DNA bands of known sizes.

The next column is labeled A and represents a lane in the electrophoresis process for one elephant population.

Population A has white bands displayed at 255, 253, 251, 249, 246, 245, 243, 241, 239, and 236.

The third column is labeled B and represents a lane in the electrophoresis process for a different elephant population.

Population B has white bands displayed at 255, 253, 249, 246, 245, 243, 241, 239, and 231.
